Stone sea

This place overwhelmed me with its unexpected beauty. It was an immersive experience, a playground, a journey through time, a close encounter with Earth. I went through it with the feeling of being in a sea in which the foam had turned to stone. A rough and still sea. Perhaps it is not still on other larger time scales: a churning sea in the middle of the Andes. Perhaps it is not made of stone either, but of shipwrecks.

It took me time to get to work with these images and what resonated with me. Calm waves that keep breaking on the shores of memory. I needed to distance myself from that day. I needed to lose a little respect for that overwhelming sea.

I walked through the swell of a slow sea.
